Chubb Fire is a global provider of fire safety solutions, including fire extinguishers and fire suppression systems. Chubb is headquartered in the United Kingdom and has been operating since 1821. It was sold by Carrier Global to APi Group Corporation in 2021. The company has been producing foam-type extinguishers for decades, and aqueous film-forming foam (AFFF) was the main component of their foam extinguishers and foam trolley units.
Chubb Fire has been named as one of the defendants in multiple lawsuits under Multidistrict Litigation (MDL) No. 2873, also known as the Aqueous Film-Forming Foams Products Liability Litigation at the District of South Carolina.
As of June 2, 2025, there were 10,391 pending dockets in the AFFF MDL.
Aqueous film-forming foam (AFFF) manufacturers, including Chubb Fire, were brought to court for failing to warn consumers of the dangers and health hazards associated with their foam products.
Since AFFF was introduced in the 1950s, these products have been used in airports, military hangars, military bases, firefighting stations, and training centers. Long-term exposure to the foam had exposed military and civilian firefighters to perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS). These chemicals made the foam effective in extinguishing fire and forming a seal to prevent it from reigniting. Studies have linked these chemicals to serious health issues. They accumulate in the blood, induce oxidative stress, disrupt hormone functions, and potentially contribute to the development of different cancers.
Chubb Fire manufactured and marketed the following products containing AFFF:
Military and civilian firefighters can file claims against Chubb Fire and other AFFF manufacturers for conditions associated with PFAS exposure. To file a claim, you must have been diagnosed with any of the following diseases after AFFF exposure and have medical documents to prove your diagnosis:
Additionally, you must have employment records or military records, whichever is applicable, that show your history of AFFF exposure at work, whether you are a military or civilian firefighter.
The negligence and failure of different AFFF manufacturers, including Chubb Fire, have led to the widespread persistence of PFAS chemicals from firefighting foam. Military and civilian firefighters had the highest levels of exposure, with some even spanning decades of AFFF use. If you have been exposed to PFAS chemicals through AFFF in your career, Atraxia Law can assist you in filing claims against AFFF manufacturers like Chubb Fire.
To be eligible, you must have been a military or civilian firefighter who had been diagnosed with the PFAS-associated diseases mentioned above. We can provide a free evaluation of your case, and, if you qualify, connect you with a specialized attorney to handle your case.
