Government actions and investigations involving Roblox

Roblox is one of the most popular online gaming platforms for children and teenagers, but multiple incidents have shed light on the unsafe and predatory nature of this online space. The company is now in the middle of a multidistrict litigation on top of several lawsuits filed by state attorneys across the U.S. If your child was harmed by using Roblox, we can connect you to specialized lawyers who can handle your Roblox claim.

Several government agencies and states in the U.S. have taken legal steps against Roblox's safety practices. Some also launched investigations into sexual exploitation and kidnapping cases where predators used Roblox as the first point of contact. These actions include the following:

  • The Los Angeles County filed a lawsuit against Roblox in February 2026. The suit alleged that Roblox marketed itself as a safe space for children's creativity, yet failed to protect children from predators. The state also claimed that Roblox failed to implement effective age verification and content moderation.
  • In Texas, Roblox is currently facing a false statement suit filed by Attorney General Ken Paxton in November 2025. Paxton claimed at a hearing that Roblox misled parents about the safety of its platform.
  • Kentucky's Attorney General filed a lawsuit against Roblox in October 2025, alleging that Roblox allowed child exploitation on its platform. The suit claimed that the company allowed predators to use their games and incentives to exploit children.
  • Louisiana's Attorney General also filed legal action against Roblox in August 2025. Attorney General Liz Murrill argued in a Livingston Parish courtroom in March 2026, citing multiple incidents where Roblox was used by sex predators to target children. The judge would decide whether or not the case against the company would move forward.
  • Tennessee Attorney General Jonathan Skrmetti also filed legal action against Roblox, claiming that the company has violated the state's consumer protection laws. The lawsuit alleged that Roblox lured children into a dangerous environment while selling access to predators.
  • Florida's authorities also announced that criminal subpoenas would be issued to Roblox to allow the prosecutors to gather information about criminal activity on the platform.

Pending investigations and Roblox MDL updates

Roblox is currently being investigated by law enforcement in Georgia after a Roblox-related kidnapping incident. Early in February 2026, Georgia authorities rescued two sisters, who were abducted from Florida, after the girls were kidnapped by a suspect who contacted them through Roblox.

Over a hundred lawsuits have already been filed by families against Roblox, alleging that the company failed to safeguard children from harassment and sexual exploitation. Because of this, the U.S. Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation centralized these cases into MDL No. 3166 or the Roblox Corporation Child Sexual Exploitation and Assault Litigation. There are 132 pending cases under MDL 3166 as of March 2026.
