Who is eligible to join the Uber sexual assault MDL?

If you were sexually assaulted or harassed while in an Uber and suffered physical, emotional or psychological harm, you may be eligible to join MDL No. 3084. The case, known as In re Uber Technologies, Inc., Passenger Sexual Assault Litigation, brings thousands of individual claims together in federal court in California. Each plaintiff keeps their own claim and seeks compensation based on their own experience, unlike a class action.

Potential claimants generally meet the following criteria:

A police report is not required. Many survivors never contact law enforcement, and rideshare sexual assault claims can move forward based on other evidence, such as Uber trip records, GPS data, in-app communications, emergency room or therapy records, and witness statements from people told about the incident.

For incidents that occurred years ago, eligibility depends on the laws of the state where the assault took place. Some states have established revival windows or extended statutes of limitations for sexual assault claims in particular.

If a qualifying lawsuit is filed in federal court, it may be transferred into MDL No. 3084 for coordinated pretrial proceedings, where discovery and common legal questions are handled collectively while individual claims remain separate.
